Joshua McMorrow-Hernandez

Joshua McMorrow-Hernandez has been collecting coins since 1992, when as an 11-year-old he was awed by an unusual-looking 1941 Lincoln Wheat Cent that appeared in his allowance money. This coin opened the door on his long and winding numismatic road. The following year he attended his first coin show, where he was acquainted with American Silver Eagles as well as many other types of coins.

In the decades since, Joshua has written hundreds of numismatic articles for a variety of publications, including COINage, CoinWeek, The Greysheet, and The Numismatist, as well as for non-numismatic banners such as Philadelphia Magazine, The Providence Journal, and Tampa Bay Times.

He has also authored numerous books, including A Guide Bookof American Silver Eagles [https://whitman.com/red-book-series-27-a-guide-book-of-american-silver-eagles/ ] (Whitman Publishing, 2022) and Images of America: The United States Mint in Philadelphia[https://www.arcadiapublishing.com/products/the-united-states-mint-in-philadelphia-9781467129190 ] (Arcadia Publishing, 2018). Joshua has most recently served as editor-in-chief of PCGS Insider magazine, FUNTopics (the quarterly publication of Florida United Numismatists), and U.S. Coins Guide[https://coins.thefuntimesguide.com ]

Joshua has won many Numismatic Literary Guild and American Numismatic Association Barbara J. Gregory Outstanding Club Publication awards, and he was bestowed the Numismatic Ambassador Award in 2022. While he has many numismatic interests that range from Lincoln Cents to Susan B. Anthony Dollars and just about everything else in between, in the early 2020s he focused his research on American Silver Eagles, a coin that is widely touted as “the modern silver dollar.”

When Joshua isn’t behind the computer writing or editing, he is tending his backyard garden, enjoying a cup of coffee at a local café, or taking a road trip with his family.
